From sleep to focus : how energy drink industry boosting in the market

INTRODUCTION

Now a days consumption of energy drink among young people whom we so call as Gen Z  is quite popular. Since the world is often suffering from fatigue and lack of sleep due to which consumption of energy drink is increasing .As the artificial intelligence has developed more due to which they are just sitting in front of laptop or pc for long hours and are suffering from fatigue and laziness .hence the consumption of energy drink is increasing and in future also the consumption of energy drink will be increasing only . But the people doing workout whom we call as gym goers and fitness enthusiasts are also consuming it at a huge scale due to which it’s market size is huge . These energy drink are marketed as energy booster which help people stay active and focused. 

MARKET SIZE

As per reports ,globally the energy drink market is valued at around $79 billion that is approximately ₹6.5 lakh crore in 2024 and is expected to reach $125 billion that is approximately ₹10 lakh crore by 2030. This energy drink market at 8% yearly .Their are many company who are selling energy drink with different flavour. Some of them are prime , red bull , monster, sting,fokus,hell. These brands are quite popular among India . 

The energy drink market are broadly divided based on the pricing segments and can be categorised on the basis of premium brands ,mid budget brands and affordable brands . Some brands such as Redbull, prime , monster, fokus are called as premium brands. These are pricing as between ₹125-₹200 but prime is selling their drinks at a pricing of ₹200-₹500which can be called as ultra premium . Earlier mid 2025 prime was imported from outside and was pricing at around ₹2000 but now after mid 2025 they have set up their market in India and are directly selling due to which the cost has been reduced to ₹200-₹500 . On the other side their is mid budget brands such as hell,zyro who are selling at a price of ₹50-₹60 . While there is budget friendly brand such as sting which is selling at price of ₹20 which is quite affordable .

In India , redbull has the highest market share that is approximately 60% market share among premium segment while sting has the highest market share among bought friendly segment .

Energy drink made at home cannot be used for selling purpose while their are separate manufacturers for this who are making the formula for the energy drink as you want and and are putting your brand name on that so that a person can sell it in the market . Mostly brands are basically selling their energy drink in cans and in plastic bottles . Their are different kinds of flavour that the energy drink company is selling which is helpful in scaling their business as different people having different taste . Most selling flavour of prime are ice pop, lemon lime, blue raspberry  and tropical punch. If we talk about monster , their most selling flavours are the OG monster energy with green and black packaging and monster ultra white . Also the best selling flavour of red bull is their OG flavour with blue and white packaging .

Demand of sugar free drinks 

Now a days Gen Z are demanding sugar free drinks and in this category monster is selling all their product as sugar free which is a main reason that they succeeded in the energy drink market . 

Ingredients used 

Ingredients that are used in most of the energy drinks are caffeine, taurine, L-theanine, Ashwagandha, vitamin b complex, ginseng .Some company who are selling their products as sugar free add some sweetener as well . The most important ingredient in energy drink is caffeine which is helping people to stay focused and charged after drinking it. Beside the above ingredients company add flavours to enhance the taste of their drinks . These flavours depends from company to company .

Conclusion

Hence if a person is entering into an energy drink company the main thing that matters beside taste is marketing so as to survive in this market . If the marketing is strong and a person is able to manage his/her marketing among their targeted audience then he will be able to become profitable otherwise he/she has to drop out this business . Before entering into this business a person should think that in what category they should sell in order to compete with the competitor that already exists and what unique thing they are selling that is what is their usp which makes them unique from other competitors that exist to make strong market presence.

Now I am starting a new energy drink company where I am motivated to start sugar free energy drink and will reveal more about this brand soon so stay tune for more information . I’ll tell you one thing about my brand is that it will be totally sugar free and will provide energy for long hours while drinking other energy drinks are generally can cause sugar spike which is not good for health and just providing energy for just 1-2 hrs and after that you’ll start feeling uneasy and tired again but after drinking our energy drink you’ll feel charged for full day….. so stay tuned will reveal our drink soon
